VIVE Polanco’s Guide to the 2026 Mexico City Grand Prix

The 2026 Mexico City Grand Prix runs October 30 to November 1 at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, with the race on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. local time, and Polanco works as the base for the weekend for anyone who wants a table, a hotel and a place to recover. This guide is also available en español.

The circuit sits on the east side, in the Ciudad Deportiva Magdalena Mixhuca in the Iztacalco borough, while Polanco belongs to Miguel Hidalgo on the west side, so getting there means crossing the city. This guide covers where to eat, where to have a drink, what to do between sessions and how to get to the track. Closures are covered in Día de Muertos y Gran Premio en Polanco: qué cambia.

Checo Pérez and Cadillac Arrive for Career Race 300

Sergio Pérez was born in Guadalajara, wears number 11 and drives in 2026 for the Cadillac Formula 1 Team. According to his Formula 1 profile and the Cadillac team page, the team is based in Silverstone, the chassis is the MAC-26, the engine is Ferrari and his teammate is Valtteri Bottas. Pérez sat out 2025 and returned to Formula 1 this year.

He arrives with 299 Grands Prix, 6 wins, 39 podiums and 3 poles, so the Mexico City Grand Prix would be his 300th. Cadillac, a new team in 2026, is also racing in Mexico for the first time.

In our view, Checo is to Mexican motorsport what Canelo is to boxing or Michael Jordan is to basketball: the name that turns this race into a national event. That is a VIVE comparison, not a statistic.

From Polanco, the Metro route is Line 7 to Tacubaya, a transfer to Line 9 and an exit at Ciudad Deportiva, Velódromo or Puebla.

Special buses leave from five points, and one is the Auditorio Nacional, at Av. Paseo de la Reforma 50, beside Campo Marte. They run from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., arrive at Calle de Atletas and return from Eje 3 Sur Añil at Churubusco from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Payment is in cash and schedules may change.
